First off, the drums are not particularly in time with the rest of the song. When i pressed play i thought i was accidentally playing two videos at teh same time because the drums sound so out of sync. Also I wouldn't pan them as much as you did.
The video is pretty unusual (both in content and form). Not sure the styles always blended together that well, and sometimes the animation looked a bit sloppy and made everything seem weightless and stretchy (when she is shot at the end) but sometimes it works really well (the dogs facial expressions around 0:56). Not sure what to make of the plot, couldn't really grasp the meaning (which perhaps was the point).

I can't thank you enough for all the insight! I never realized how screwy the drums were for this one. I think the drums on newer songs are a bit better, but your critique is going to make me go back over them again. The vocals are a bit loud too. I'll keep the panning in mind in the future. I'm not a drummer really (obviously) and was using loops which had panning built in. I think I can take care of that if I nip it in the bud early enough in the construction process. I feel like the editing wasn't where it needed to be either on this. I think I see what you mean on the arrow scene. I actually still like the arrow strike portion but the bow doesn't quite fit in and the omega before it looks really out of place. There's a lot of incongruity in the looks department. The tombstone upclose really stands out as poor. I've been posting my stuff here and there for about 5 years now and have never asked anyone to check out anything of mine, but you have a great discerning eye. About half a year ago, I made my 1st short film, Christmas Somewhere and posted it here. I was pretty proud of it when I posted it and it did end up with 3 stars, but I didn't really get much feedback. Since it took a long time to make and got little fanfare, I'm wary of doing another short film because I'm really not sure what mistakes I made with it. My best guess is that it wasn't paced very well for the internet and things didn't start happening soon enough. It's almost 9 minutes so I understand if you don't have time to check it out. Whether you do or don't, I really appreciate your comment on Omega Lady greatly :)

Interesting! I think this is the first animation i've seen in HTML5 so that alone made for enjoyable viewing. I assume the pixelation transition was added afterwards in some other software? The concept was interesting and i liked the art style (mix of detailed textures and pixel art?) As for the writing i think that death entering the elevator with his sycthe was a little more than was necessary. I'm not sure of a more subtle way of getting the point across but i felt that was just too melodromatic. I suppose if the door had just opened and then he was gone we would assume he just left the elevator... Anyhow i enjoyed it, nice music too!

Thank you, glad you like it! The pixelated transition was made with Construct, no other program was used for animation.
Interesting propossal the one of just him just leaving as well, seems fit for a "director's cut alternative ending" version ;)

Really nice! I'd have removed the tacky windows movie maker title screen, it looks very unproffesional and gave me low expectations for what turned out to be a nice animation. I liked the poem and the reading was great, loved the guys voice. Unfortunately I don't know spanish so I appreciated the translation in the description, subtitles might have been better though.
The animation is self was decent, the frame rate was a little low but I appreciate traditional animation is a lot of work. Loved the transition at 0:23. Character design was really cool too, and that shot of the mountatin at 0:45 is perfect, loved how it moved. The shot at 0:52 felt far too static, could have had some background drifting by to show the birds speed. The transition to digital animation was nicely done and I liked how you used photographs.
All in all an original and engaging work! Great imagery, appealing character design, intriguing concept!

marciano responds:

I didnt know windows movie maker had such a bad reputation , at 0.52 the poem says "still in the height" I wanted to show that when you see a bird gliding high it appears to be static but thanks for the comment I appreciete intelligent feed back

Really nice work! The character design is really neat, I like their noses and despite mostly being on twos (?) the animation is really solid, the key frames get the body language across well. The shot in which the husband (?) comes home and heads towards her is great, it'd be cool to see the whole animation that smooth! My other favorite scene is when she's looking at her herself in the cracked mirror, i love the sense of motion when she examines her black eye. The shots are for the most part really well composed but I don't like the flat shot of the bottle, it looks very 2d. And the long distance shot at 0:28 makes the house seem huge, like she's waiting for a train or something. Voice acting suited the character well and the ambiance was atmospheric.
All in all a really great piece, good luck in the competition!

dylan responds:

Gladjyaliked it! I am pretty into those completely flat, orthographic shots. It's completely impossible to do that with traditional live-action film, so I feel like it's one of those nice elements that can really make animation stand out.
